What is the Rec Ministry?

The Rec Ministry is a place where a variety of age groups come together to compete and develop community. We offer volleyball and basketball. Sagemont Church is developing an environment where all can experience Christ in a new way, whether with your team of friends or with new people you meet in the ministry. The idea of community is an important part of the Christian walk, and we believe this ministry helps strengthen these bonds. This is one way the body of Christ can work together and reach others in our community. The center of this league will always be Christ. Our mission is use the avenue of sports to win souls to the Lord. This is an opportunity to love, disciple and reach those in need. Please join us on this mission and let’s see what God can do!

Who is involved?
  • The Rec Ministry is facilitated by our Recreation Minister Chuck Davenport.
  • Anyone can play in the Sagemont Rec League if they meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
How do you join?

On this page or in the website Events section, find the sport you want to join. Click the button and register individually or as a team.

When does it happen?

Sagemont Rec Ministry will take place every Fall and Spring. The leagues are approximately 10 weeks long. Small sports tournaments may take place spontaneously throughout the year. Please check this webpage for constant updates for what is happening. The weekly schedule will happen as follows:

  • Sunday: Basketball (Male)
    • 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
  • Monday: Basketball (Male)
    • 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
  • *Sunday: Open gym starts at 1:30 pm. Games start at 2:00 pm. The last game is played at 9:00 pm and everyone will be gone by 10:00 pm.
  • *Monday: Open gym starts at 5:30 pm. Games start at 6 :00 pm. The last game is played at 9:00 pm and everyone will be gone by 10:00 pm.
Where does it take place?
  • The Sunday and Monday leagues will take place in the Gym located behind the Hughes Road Auditorium.

We believe in excellence. We believe that our league is properly run and facilitates a wide variety of skill levels. We are asking that you join us not only to play a sport but to be a part of reaching South Houston one person at a time with the love of Christ.
